Abstract

The educational landscape is getting transformed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) which is reshaping methods of teaching and learning. Initially perceived as a tool for automating administrative and repetitive instructional tasks, AI is now evolving toward augmenting the cognitive and emotional capacities of educators and learners alike. This research paper explores the paradigm shift from automation to augmentation in pedagogy through AI-enabled systems. It examines the fundamental technologies underlying AI in education, including machine learning, natural language processing, and learning analytics.  They contribute to personalized and adaptive learning environments. Furthermore, it highlights the emerging roles of teachers in AI-integrated classrooms, the ethical and practical challenges of adoption, and strategies which ensure that AI only complements rather than replaces human educators. The discussion concludes by putting emphasis on the need of teacher empowerment, ethical responsibility, and human-centric design to harness AI’s full potential in transforming education.
